Doc Sage & The Action Railroad
The story of this railroad is the story of an old school railroader changing how his trains
would run and increasing functionality. Doc Sage, was a major fan of Colorado and Northern
New Mexico's DRG&W Narrow Gauge lines. His 40 year project to recreate parts of those old
lines was a true labor of love. However when he approached us about switching out his old
power systems for DCC, we couldn't have been happier. Now we all know about wiring our railroad's,
and how even with the best intention after awhile of fixing, forgetting, adding and of course
removing wiring that things aren't always what you think they are. However the job completed
and the trains ready to run we came to our first operating session of the newly powered classic.
Guests with throttles in hand left their depots with loads bound for distant industries and towns.
The railroad ran beautifully, a hand full of minor derailments and a tight turn coming out of tunnel
number 3 aside, Doc couldn't have been more thrilled. So to all those old school railroaders, you're
not loosing a power system your gaining operating freedom with DCC.
In Memory of Doc Sage, may all his signals be green on his heavenly path… you will be missed!
